The number one obstacle I have found is the perception that my colleagues have of IT. They seem to have that dysfunctional relationship of – ”IT is a money pit”.
It’s disheartening but it’s not a shocker – they all have reasons, legitimate ones to boot. Remember, the bottom-line of any business is about making money and just like other lines of business, IT must prove its worth.
Changing this perception requires a vision, good planning, solid communication and good teamwork to deliver solutions as expected. You need to do a better job of spelling out how IT contributes to the business – the value added or that perception won’t end.
