Complexity Reduction…
Is a key strategy for business technology leaders towards reducing costs and helping an organization better leverage technology? Although some complexity is inevitable, to our chagrin, much of it is self-generated and can be reversed. I’ve found four areas that require me to ask the right questions to my staff and business partners. In this dialogue about simplification, look to explore the following;
- Inefficient organizational design (consolidate the bureaucracy)
- Product proliferation (six tools to make a PDF, now really)
- Un-managed process evolution (effective governance?)
- Unintentional managerial behaviors (perceptions from your customers)
Do so and you’ll start to see cost reduction and help the rest of the enterprise thrive.
